Special Operations Forces conference

An international conference on special operations forces versus postmodern security threats was held on May 24, 2013 in the Main Lecture Hall of Collegium Maius. The watchword of the Conference: "Beyond Neptune Spear" referred to the code name of the spectacular operation of American special forces which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden. Many experts consider this operation a landmark moment in the history of special operations forces, which has set new trends for the world's most elite military formations.
The subjects discussed at the conference included such vital issues as security threats in Europe, NATO special operations forces system and its role in contemporary global security challenges, or the latest trends in social media and their role in the modern conflicts. The conference speakers also talked about the chances and dangers that special operations can create for political decision-makers.
