MA in European Studies - Central and Eastern European Studies: Research Track is an innovative specialization which is a response to the need for professionals who will use the knowledge acquired during their studies in the most efficient way.

STUDY:
Students will gain wide knowledge about Central and Eastern Europe matters from social, economical, political and cultural perspective combined with practical courses about professional research know-how, management and usage (see the curriculum below).
The courses will be lead by the Jagiellonian University and ARENA Centre for European Studies University of Oslo scholars as well as experts from the private and public sectors.
CREATE REALITY:
Students will learn about the mechanism of how the scientific research can be transferred into actions conducive to the development of economy, society and democracy which they will then be able to implement during their internship in NGOs, public or private institutions, companies or by leading their own research.

Students of Central and Eastern European Studies: Research Track will take part in the Internship Programme taking maximum advantage from combining theory and practice during trainees in public and non-governmental institutions and organizations, private companies. This will enrich their academic experience and prepare them for future opportunities in their professional careers, and it will be a great opportunity to establish a network of contacts with specialists active in their field of interest.

...or lead your own research project about Central and Eastern Europe
Students will be able to understand and critically evaluate the phenomena faced by countries in CEE region. The approach will provide students with an unique academic and professional skills set which enable to create, develop and implement their own independent research project under the professional supervision and will them to create an expertise for public and private institutions as well as non-governmental organizations in the future.
BE A WANTED SPECIALIST:
The result will be to educate top experts in the field, conscious of their role and responsibilities of researchers, who will strengthen in the future, public - private partnership.
Graduate Profile
The programme provides graduate students with interdisciplinary knowledge and expertise in Central and Eastern European Studies with focus on gaining practical, transferable skills necessary for understanding these societies. Students that graduate from this track will not only have theoretical knowledge but also documented experience in a chosen field and recommendations for future employees as well as a wide network of contacts. They will be ready to pursue careers in local and national governmental organizations, non-profits, specialist think-tanks and political consulting companies. Graduates can also choose to continue their studies and apply for PhDs.

Both of the ‘European Integration Theory and Practice' and ‘Meaning and Value...'courses may be taken to constitute the equivalent of one of these courses. Students may either take both of these courses as the equivalent of a 60h course satisfying part of the Speciality Courses requirement, or either course as an additional course.
